Compare some of the things entailed in the Eighth and Ninth Commandments, according to Patriarchs
and Prophets.
The Eighth Commandment:
"Thou shalt not steal." Both public and private sin are included in
this prohibition . . . It condemns theft and robbery. It demands strict
integrity in the minutest details of the affairs of life. |
The Ninth Commandment:
False-speaking in any matter, every attempt or purpose to deceive our neighbor, is
here included. An intention to deceive is what constitutes falsehood... All
intentional overstatement, every hint or insinuation calculated to convey an erroneous or
exaggerated impression, even the statement of facts in such a manner as to mislead, is
falsehood. |
God requires strict integrity and perfect honesty of us.
Would He not have required it of His messenger?
